English Heritage’s Wigmore Castle, Herefordshire. Only ruins remain, following the destruction of the castle in the English Civil war to prevent it becoming a stronghold. Remaining walls are surrounded and half covered by dismantled masonry and accumulated earth giving a hint of what the castle used to look like.
